“I don’t know if I have an EPC” is something I regularly hear.
It is really easy to find out, you just need the address details to search the national database of Energy Performance Certificates. But how do you do it?
Step one
Go to the EPC Register
Step two
Select “Retrieve Report Using Property Address”
Step three
You need to accept the terms and conditions
Step four
Put in your postcode and press “Search Reports”
You will then see a list of all the addresses in this postcode that have had EPC lodged. If your address isn’t there then an EPC does not exist. Click on your address and it will take you to another page where you will need to click on “show reports”
Step five
You then get the choice of viewing in English or Welsh
Step six
Your EPC will now be downloaded as a .pdf file which your computer should open automatically.
Step seven
Save a copy of your EPC so you don’t have to go through this again.
